Sit Still

A quiet room to focus in.

Set a length, pick a room, and stay in it. The room fills the screen — a tea house in Kyoto, an attic in Paris, a library in Vienna — with its own sound playing underneath and a cat asleep somewhere in it. When the time is up you get a few whiskers and a line to write down what you actually did.

What's in it

Nineteen illustrated rooms

Seventeen permanent ones, free and open from the first launch, plus two seasonal rooms that change every month. Each has its own recorded ambience, levelled so moving between rooms is never a lurch.

A focus shield, if you want one

Three modes: Companionship blocks nothing, Whitelist lets a chosen set of apps through, Strict blocks everything for the length of the session. Built on Apple's own Screen Time frameworks.

A bedtime lock

Choose a window and the same shield comes up on a schedule, so the phone stops being interesting at the hour you decided rather than the hour you give in.

Tasks, and a record

A task list that syncs both ways with Apple Reminders if you want it to, and a plain chart of what you have actually sat through.

Cats

Six companions, all free, picked on taste rather than earned. Focusing pays whiskers, and whiskers buy the seasonal rooms and things for the cat to wear. Nothing else costs anything.

Sit Still is for iPhone and requires iOS 17 or later. There is no account, no sign-in, and it works with no connection at all.
